Keywords:

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease is a global health problema. The etiology in infants differs from that in adults, congenital kidney and urinary tract anomalies predominate in them, especially in children under five years of age. Objective: To reflect on the factors related to the risk of having a child with congenital kidney and urinary tract anomalies. Methods: During the year 2022, a reflection study was carried out, based on the theoretical review and practical experience of the authors in relation to the diagnosis of occult chronic kidney disease in Pediatrics secondary to congenital renal and urinary tract anomalies. Results: It is important that the work team in charge of medical care for pregnant women identifies the risk factors associated with congenital kidney and urinary tract anomalies. The importance of each of these situations in affecting nephrogenesis was demonstrated. Conclusion: Knowledge of the factors associated with having children with CAKUT favors the prevention and early diagnosis of this group of congenital defects.
