Author Guidelines

COMMON METHODOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL TYPES OF ARTICLES

The works must be unpublished. If it has been made public, the author has the duty to communicate it.

Formal aspects of the manuscript:

The Cuban Journal of Nephrology publishes articles in Spanish, English and Portuguese. When the article is in English, before being sent to the journal it must be reviewed by an English-speaking person, and must include the complete manuscript in English and Spanish. When the article is in Portuguese, before being sent to the journal it must be reviewed by a Spanish-speaking person, and must include the complete manuscript in Portuguese and Spanish, as well as the title, abstract and keywords in English.

Forms of presentation of manuscripts:

The document presented must have clarity and consistency of writing, syntax and spelling. The text must be presented in electronic WORD text format with Verdana 12 font and 1.5 line spacing in all its sections and with the pages numbered at the bottom. Only abbreviations common in the field of public health and Nephrology should be used.

The use of abbreviations in the title and summary of the work should be avoided. Acronyms or abbreviations in the text should not be excessive. A word that does not appear more than three (3) times should not be in an acronym. The first time an abbreviation appears in the text it must be preceded by the full term it refers to, except in the case of units of measurement. These will be expressed in International System Units.

Decimal figures are separated from units by a comma and thousands are indicated by a period. In articles in English, the corresponding punctuation must be followed (units with a period and thousands with a comma).

The use of neutral terms is recommended (for example, childhood instead of children) and non-sexist language (for example, the person who contributes the most in the home instead of “head of the family”).

The concepts of sex and gender should not be used interchangeably because their meaning is different.

Compressed files in any format are not supported.

Guides for publishing specific designs

The Cuban Journal of Nephrology recommends following the latest versions of the following guidelines: STROBE for the publication of observational studies (cross-sectional, cases and controls, and cohorts), available in Spanish at GacSanit. 2008;22(2):144-50; CONSORT for clinical trials; STARD for articles on diagnostic tests; QUOROM for meta-analysis of clinical trials; PRISMA and PRISMA-E 2012 for systematic reviews and meta-analyses of studies that evaluate health interventions with an equity focus. The guides are available on the EQUATOR Initiative website (http://www.equator-network.org/).

Form).

TEMPLATE:

We make available to the authors a Template, a document that serves as methodological help for the preparation of the manuscript. It contains the style, format and requirements found in the “authors' guidelines”, available on the website of the Cuban Journal of Nephrology, consult it before writing the document. You should replace what is in square brackets […] with your work and remove the square brackets when you include it, maintaining the style of the template. You should keep section and subsection headings as they are in the document.

Manuscripts must comply with what is indicated in this template, so that they are subject to review by the Editorial Committee; if they do not comply with the guidelines, they will be rejected.

Original articles

Report that communicates for the first time experimental results, new knowledge or experiences based on known facts. Its purpose is to share and contrast these results with the rest of the researchers and, once validated, they are incorporated as a bibliographic resource for the availability of the scientific community. When faced with a scientific problem, to solve it we proceed in accordance with the guidelines and guidelines of the scientific method, both with a quantitative, qualitative or mixed approach.
Given the novelty or originality of this type of research, it is the one that has the highest priority in the journal's editorial process.
Its length will not exceed 4,500 words, including bibliographical references. Comply with the rules of the attached template
Make a new shipment to the Original Articles section.

Define the Universe or Population (with its respective selection criteria: inclusion / exclusion / exit), and the Sample (if it exists).
In case of selection of a sample:
Declare type (probabilistic or non-probabilistic).

In both cases (Universe and Sample) define their quantities.
Clearly state the information collection, processing and analysis methods that were used. The authors must upload to the journal's platform, in an attached file, the primary records used for the data. Authors are recommended to publicly place in repositories and reference the data they consider from their research, so that they can be shared and reused, which facilitates the transparency and credibility of the research both for reviewers and for readers and the scientific community in general. general. This aspect is very important as part of open access to information, following the precept that data be “as open as possible, as closed as necessary.”
The variables or categories of analysis must be clearly defined and their evaluation criteria declared. The operationalization table of the variables is not necessary.
The data analysis method must be the most appropriate for the research design.
Declare the particular ethical aspects for the study. Priority will be given to research that has endorsements from institutional scientific committees, or those that come from institutional research projects.
In the case of clinical trials, they must carry their appropriate registration number, obtained from a Clinical Trials Registry. This number must be verifiable, so the Source will appear. In addition, they must comply with the evaluation parameters expressed in the international CONSORT guide. (http://bvs.sld.cu/revistas/recursos/CONSORT.pdf)

Describe the possible applicability and generalization of the results.
In the case of qualitative studies, the Results and Discussion section may be presented as one, in this case the section would be called Results and Discussion.
Explain the scope and limitations of the results. The penultimate paragraph explains the limitations of the study, taking into account possible sources of bias or imprecision.
In the last paragraph of the manuscript, at the end of the discussion, the Conclusions are placed. In the Conclusions, results should not be repeated or phrases that appear in the Summary. They must express an adequate degree of generalization.
